BetterGK

iOS / iPadOS / macOS

App Terms of Use

These terms describe the scope, data handling, external video services and responsibilities for the free, on-device edition of BetterGK on iOS, iPadOS and macOS. They are separate from the web service’s account and paid-plan terms.

Updated and effective: 5 October 2026

1. Operator, scope and application

Chikazumi Fuse (the operator) provides BetterGK (the app) to assist with handball match recording, video review and player analysis. These are app-specific terms. The web service, other products and test distributions with separately disclosed conditions are subject to their respective terms.

Please read these terms before use. They apply to the extent you agree to incorporate them into your contract, or they are otherwise lawfully incorporated through advance disclosure and the requirements of applicable law. Publication alone does not establish your agreement to past use or undisclosed changes.

This is version 1.2, dated 5 October 2026. Mandatory law takes priority. Individually agreed conditions take priority within the limits of applicable law and section 3.

2. Eligibility and team use

Minors and anyone who cannot independently enter into a contract must obtain any consent from a legal representative required by applicable law. An age rating or parental consent does not replace permissions required to view particular videos, film events or handle player information.

If you use the app for a school, team, organisation or business, obtain the necessary authority to use it and handle its data. Manage devices, recipients and handovers between personnel appropriately. Organisational use alone does not remove consumer rights you have under applicable law.

3. Licence, intellectual property and Apple

Rights in the app’s software, interface and branding belong to the operator or the relevant rights holders. Your data is addressed in section 5.

The software licence for an App Store download is governed by Apple’s Standard EULA and applicable Apple terms. This document is not a replacement Custom EULA. Conflicting software-licence matters are governed by those Apple terms; these terms supplement app-specific use to the extent consistent with them. Mandatory law always takes priority.

The app is provided by the operator. It is not represented as an official or endorsed app of Apple, Google, YouTube or a sporting organisation. App-specific support is available under section 19.

4. Features and the role of analysis

Supported versions and devices provide match, team, player and tag management; shot results, positions, trajectories, circumstances and notes; match, goalkeeper and player statistics; video timestamps; JSON backups; and PDF reports. The app does not automatically recognise video events or provide official scoring.

Statistics depend on your inputs, player associations, selected periods and filters, calculation definitions and rounding. Missing, unclassified or unlinked records and inaccurate video timestamps can affect results. Verify important results against the source records.

Analysis and reports are decision-support materials, not certification of official records or guarantees of improved performance, recruitment, selection, player treatment, medical diagnosis, injury prevention or safe training. Use other relevant information when making coaching or selection decisions. Do not operate a device during play, driving or other unsafe situations. These descriptions do not remove the operator’s legal responsibilities.

5. Your data and third-party rights

You or the original rights holders retain rights in imported or entered records, names, notes, videos and images. Use of the app does not transfer ownership to the operator or grant a blanket licence for advertising, AI training or publication.

Ensure you have the necessary rights or lawful basis for filming, recording, analysing, storing and sharing information, including copyright, image and privacy rights, personal-data requirements and school, team or event rules. For minors, provide explanations, obtain guardian consent or take other steps as required by applicable law and the child’s capacity to understand.

Do not enter unnecessary sensitive information, confidential material or another person’s credentials. Local storage does not remove permissions required for sharing or publication. The operator does not continuously monitor or pre-screen your inputs.

6. Local storage, original videos and data loss

The current free edition does not provide operator-hosted cloud storage, iCloud sync or server backups. Records remain on the device, and the operator cannot access or remotely restore them. Operating-system backups and storage services you select are separate systems.

Device failure or loss, insufficient storage, corruption, OS or app updates, deletion, resets and mistakes may cause data loss or inaccessibility. Keep regular separate backups, including before updates, transfers and imports, and check that they can be restored.

Videos selected as files are generally stored as references. Moving or deleting the originals or changing permissions can prevent playback. Videos imported from the photo library are copied into app storage; removing or replacing an attachment may delete an app-held copy. Keep the original separately.

Deleting app records, detaching videos, deleting original media, removing exports and deleting OS backups are separate operations. On macOS, deleting the app may leave its data behind. The operator’s liability and the effect of backup arrangements are governed by section 14 and applicable law.

7. JSON imports, exports and PDF sharing

JSON backups do not contain video files. Preserve and transfer original videos separately and reconnect them when necessary. Backups may include multiple matches, player studies, player and team names, notes and video URLs.

An import is not a read-only preview: it adds, merges or updates device records using identifiers, names and other matching information. Existing values and associations may change. Back up the current state first, check the source, intended records and format, and verify the result afterwards. Compatibility with every older, newer or modified file is not guaranteed.

The app does not apply its own encryption to exported JSON. Private or expiring video URLs may contain access information. PDFs may contain match names, player names and results. Inspect exports before sharing or publishing and use anonymisation, encryption or access controls where appropriate.

You select the storage and sharing destinations. External storage, email and sharing services have their own terms. An export does not certify official records or grant rights to third-party content.

8. YouTube and external video services

Opening a player configured with YouTube or an external streaming URL connects to that provider. YouTube Privacy Enhanced Mode does not mean no network traffic, no advertising or no data collection. See the App Privacy Policy and the provider’s disclosures.

Follow external-service terms and restrictions on territory, age, visibility and embedding. The app does not grant rights in videos or authorise downloading, republication, ad removal or bypassing access restrictions.

Removal, privacy changes, expired signed URLs, service changes, connectivity and format limitations may prevent playback. The operator does not control third-party availability or content; responsibility for the operator’s own acts remains subject to section 14. Recording and analysis can also be used without external video.

9. Privacy and device management

The App Privacy Policy explains the operator’s handling of personal information, support correspondence, Apple diagnostics and connections to external video providers. Agreement to these terms does not replace separate consent required by law for personal-data processing, tracking, cookies or similar activities.

Manage device locks, OS updates, shared-device access and backup and export locations appropriately. The app does not provide separate user accounts or role-based team access controls. Network, device and external-service charges depend on your contracts with those providers.

10. Prohibited conduct

Do not engage in unlawful filming, use or sharing; infringement; defamation; harassment; discriminatory or fraudulent use; unauthorised circumvention of access restrictions; service disruption; malicious-file distribution; unauthorised access; or impersonation of the operator or others.

Unauthorised redistribution, branding use, modification and reverse engineering are prohibited except where permitted by applicable law or an applicable licence. This does not prohibit legitimate criticism, consumer complaints, legal claims, lawful interoperability or security research, or reporting defects.

11. Free provision, changes and discontinuation

The current edition is free, with no account, purchase or subscription required. Any future paid features will be explained with their prices in advance and will require an explicit purchase. Free use is not agreement to a paid contract.

Version 1.1.0 and later requires an Internet connection on first launch and at least once within each 24-hour access period. Recording and analysis are restricted if access confirmation expires or an update to a supported version is required. A restart, clock change or similar event may require reconnection sooner if the app cannot verify the confirmation. Saved records are preserved, and JSON backup export remains available while access is restricted. We will announce the timing, pricing and transition details of future paid availability in advance and provide an app version that supports purchases. Version 1.1.0 has no purchase functionality. This paragraph does not change how version 1.0.x operates.

For reasonable reasons, including defect fixes, security, legal requirements, external-service or OS changes and maintenance needs, the operator may change features, suspend provision or discontinue the app. Where practicable, materially adverse changes or discontinuation will be announced with reasonable advance notice through the website, app or another suitable channel, with a reasonable opportunity to export records. Urgent measures may be announced afterwards.

Perpetual compatibility with all older systems, devices and external services is not promised. This section does not remove statutory performance, refund or compensation obligations. Changes to these terms follow section 17.

12. Ending use and responding to breaches

You may stop using the app at any time. Preserve or delete records and videos as described in sections 6 and 7. Removing the app does not automatically cancel contracts with external providers.

For serious unlawful conduct, a concrete threat to others’ rights or safety, or an unremedied material breach, the operator may take necessary and proportionate action or end a licence as permitted by law and Apple’s terms. Unless urgency or another reasonable ground prevents it, a remediable breach will receive prior notice and an opportunity to remedy it. This does not authorise remote deletion or surveillance of local records.

13. Scope of assurances

The operator exercises reasonable care in providing the app but, except for express commitments, does not promise uninterrupted or faultless operation in every environment, perfect compatibility or complete inputs or analysis, future features or particular sporting or business outcomes.

These statements do not exclude statutory quality, conformity, repair, refund or other rights. Liability is governed by the next section. Providing the app free does not itself remove all legal responsibility.

14. Liability

Where the operator has legal liability for breach of contract, a tort or another basis, this section applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Causation, foreseeability, each party’s fault and mitigation are assessed under that law.

Only for ordinary negligence by the operator or those assisting its performance, excluding intentional misconduct and gross negligence, compensation is limited to actual, ordinary and direct loss; loss arising from special circumstances and lost profits are excluded. If this limitation is invalid or prohibited, liability follows applicable law. Data loss is not categorically excluded.

Additionally, only where you are not a consumer under applicable law and use the app for business purposes, liability for that ordinary negligence for a series of claims arising from the same or related cause is capped at the greater of JPY 10,000 or the app fees you actually paid the operator in the 12 months before the loss. This monetary cap does not apply to consumers.

Neither of the preceding two limitations applies to intentional misconduct or gross negligence by the operator or those assisting its performance, fraud, death or personal injury, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing in these terms restricts rights under Japan’s Consumer Contract Act or other mandatory consumer-protection laws.

15. Your responsibility and third-party disputes

If your intentional or negligent unlawful conduct or breach causes loss to the operator or another person, your responsibility for causally connected loss is determined by applicable law. Responsibility for the operator’s own conduct is not transferred to you.

If a third party alleges infringement involving your records or videos, the parties should establish the relevant facts and respond according to their respective responsibilities. You are not required to provide an unconditional legal defence, cover all costs or accept a settlement chosen by the operator.

16. Support and defect reports

Support may request the minimum information needed to investigate, such as OS and app versions, steps, timing and redacted screenshots. Do not send unnecessary match records, others’ personal information, private video URLs or credentials. Submitted information is handled under the Privacy Policy.

The operator investigates and responds within reasonable limits, without promising a particular response time, recovery of every record or implementation of every request. Contacting support or negotiating first is not a condition of bringing legal claims, contacting authorities or seeking urgent relief. Statutory claim periods are not shortened.

17. Changes to these terms

Changes will be made only with your individual agreement or where the requirements of Article 548-4 of Japan’s Civil Code or other applicable law are met. The changes, revised terms and effective date will be announced in advance through the website, app or another suitable channel, and any legally required consent will be obtained.

Editing this page or continued use alone will not establish agreement to a change that fails applicable legal requirements. New liability restrictions will not be applied retroactively to existing disputes or losses.

18. Governing law, courts and severability

Except for matters governed by the Apple terms in section 3, Japanese law governs these terms and your relationship with the operator. This does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections applicable in your place of residence or elsewhere.

Disputes may be brought before courts having jurisdiction under applicable law. These terms do not impose distant exclusive courts, compulsory arbitration, waiver of collective remedies or waiver of access to courts on consumers.

If a provision is invalid, the remaining provisions continue to the extent permitted by law. The operator may not unilaterally replace an invalid provision with one adverse to you. The Japanese and English texts are intended to have the same meaning. Differences are resolved under applicable law, the information presented when contracting and reasonable user understanding, without restricting mandatory rights because of language differences.
